r8i Instance Family
Description #
The R8I instance family, generally available in August 2025, is a memory-optimized series powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors with a sustained all-core turbo frequency of up to 3.9 GHz. These instances offer up to 3TB of DDR5 7200MT/s memory, delivering 2.5x more memory bandwidth than the previous generation. They provide up to 100 Gbps of networking bandwidth, up to 80 Gbps of dedicated Amazon EBS bandwidth, and are SAP-certified for mission-critical applications. The R8I instances, which also support Elastic Fabric Adapter on larger sizes, are ideal for high-performance databases and memory-intensive analytics.
