m4 Instance Family

The M4 general purpose instance family, first announced in June 2015, features custom Intel Xeon E5-2686 v4 (Broadwell) or E5-2676 v3 (Haswell) processors. These balanced instances are EBS-optimized by default and utilize Enhanced Networking for low-latency performance, with the largest sizes offering up to 25 Gbps of network bandwidth. They are a good choice for a variety of workloads like mid-size databases and caching fleets. The instance types (m4.large to m4.16xlarge) rely exclusively on Amazon EBS for persistent storage and do not include any local instance storage.
