r5b Instance Family
Description #
The R5B memory-optimized instance family, generally available since December 1, 2020, features the Intel Xeon Platinum 8259CL processor. These instances do not offer local instance storage (EBS-only) but are specifically engineered for superior network-attached storage performance. R5B is distinguished by providing up to 60 Gbps of dedicated EBS bandwidth and 260K IOPS, a 3x increase over R5 instances. Powered by the AWS Nitro System, it is ideal for large relational databases and memory-intensive workloads requiring high EBS throughput.
