The M3 instance family, a previous generation of general-purpose instances, offers a balance of compute, memory, and networking. While a specific release date isn't available, they predate the M4 and M5 families. M3 instances utilize Intel Xeon E5-2670 v2 processors and come with moderate to high network performance depending on the instance size. Storage options include both EBS-backed and instance store (SSD) options. Note that M3 instances do not support Enhanced Networking or AVX-512 instructions, but AWS has made them compatible with the Nitro System.
