i2 Instance Family
Description #
The I2 instance family, launched in December 2013, is designed for I/O intensive workloads. These storage-optimized instances feature Intel Xeon E5-2670 v2 (Ivy Bridge) processors. I2 instances come with local SSD storage, ranging from 800 GB to 6.4 TB, and offer Enhanced Networking for low latency and high packet per second performance within a VPC. They are a previous generation instance type and may not be the best choice for new applications.
