The MAC1 instance family, generally available since November 30, 2020, is built on dedicated Intel Core i7 (Coffee Lake) Mac mini hardware with 12 vCPUs and 32 GiB of memory. These bare-metal instances, enabled by the AWS Nitro System, offer up to 10 Gbps of network bandwidth and 8 Gbps of EBS bandwidth. They boot from EBS volumes, lack local instance storage, and are primarily designed for macOS and iOS development and CI/CD workloads. A key feature is the requirement for a 24-hour minimum dedicated host lease.
