r5a Instance Family

The R5A memory-optimized instance family, first available in November 2018, features the AMD EPYC 7000 series processor (EPYC 7571) with an all-core turbo of up to 2.5 GHz. These instances are EBS-only, meaning they do not offer local NVMe instance storage. They provide up to 10 Gbps of network performance and are powered by the AWS Nitro System. R5A instances offer a cost-optimized alternative, with up to 10% savings over comparable R5 instances.
